I took the week off to see if it would help my legs.  Unfortunately the aches came earlier in the run than normal.  The plan was originally to get up and meet with some friends for an 8 or 9 miler.  It was snowing hard with about 6 inches on the ground at 7:30 so we called it off.  I went and played church basketball instead.  I ended up playing back to back games.  Later when it quit snowing and the sun came out I went for my run alone.  I chose a fairly easy gradual downhill run.  Early in the third mile my left calf and my right hip started acting up.  I was doing an easy 8:45 pace.  I'm officially discouraged.  I'm not sure whether I ought to lay off for another week and see if things get better or if I should run through it.  I'll probably go back to the treadmill for a while to see if that helps.

I went to the club and ran on the treadmill.  I ran a pretty slow pace.  The legs were sore but I didn't get the pains I've been getting.

I ran with Mike D. and Sean.  We left Peak Performance and ran through S. Ogden, past the Armory and then over to Ogden Regional.  Went across 5500 S. to 500 W.  down to 4800 S. past Bonneville and then down to Hilltop.  Went down to Adams and then down to my office at 25th and Washington.  For the first time since the Tucson Marathon I had a good run.  I was very encouraged.  I didn't get any pain in my calf.  the last half mile my hip started getting a little sore but it wasn't unbearable.  We didn't run real hard 8:30-9:00 minute pace.  Hopefully I can now resume my regular running.

I met up with Todd over at the club and ran on a treadmill.  No pain agian.  I'm getting hopeful that things are back to normal and I can resume my regular running.  Now if it would just warm up so I can get back on the road.

I ran with Ben, Mike D. and Sean.  We left Peak Performance and went up above Weber State.  got on the trails.  There was a lot of snow.  In places there was a smooth trail of packed snow that made running real easy.  In other places we were knee deep trying to pick up the trail again.  We left the trails at 29th Street and continued on the roads to 20th St.  From there we dropped down and turned to go past El Monte and down to Rainbow Gardens.  The last mile or so we picked up the pace and I dropped down to a 6:30 pace.  I could only maintain that for about a half mile and started to get winded.  Finsihed the last half mile at a 7:30 pace.  Overall my legs felt really good.

I went up to the club and ran on a treadmill.  the plan was to run 5 miles.  My feet and knees were sore and I cut it short after three miles.  I actually had to slow down and walk after two miles.  Not a good run.

Today was the opposite of yesterday.  I went up to the club and ran on the treadmill again.  My legs felt strong.  After yesterday I was planning on running 4 miles.  I felt great so I continued until I got to five and a half and then picked up a little more during the cool down.

Todd met me at my office and we took off just as it started to snow.  It was snowing hard and stuck to the roads, but my footing was good and had a great run.  We went up 26th then cut over to 20th where we went up above Harrison, then North to 26th and back to my office.  The first half of the run was basically uphill we stayed in the 8:30 o 9:00 range. dropped down to 7:45 to 8:00 on the way back.  Legs felt fine again.  I think I'm back and ready to increase my mileage and speed.

I ran today with Mike D.  We left Peak Performance and ran the Combe loop backwards.  from there, crossed Harrison went through S. Ogden past the armory and into Wash. Terrace, past the hospital and then down to Bonneville.  continued through the terrace, crossed Washington at Hilltop, then went down to Adams and from there to my office.  took it pretty easy in the 8:30 to 9:00 minute range until the last 2.5 miles where I picked up the speed and dropped down to 7:15-7:30 pace.  I felt okay running at that pace.  Was a little sore and tired at the end.

Ran with Todd.  We left Peak Performance and ran to Rainbow Gardens via the Ogden east bench.  Starting my legs were pretty sore.  After a couple of miles they felt much better.  The pace ranged from some miles in the 8:45 range down to 7:20.

Went to the OAC and ran on the treadmill.  I was concerned that after my two semi-long runs over the weekend my legs would be sore.  They were a little sore at first but they loosened up quickly and had a good run.

Todd and I ran from my office up to Monroe, over to 20th and then up to Harrison. Crossed Harrison and ran down to Rainbow Gardens. From there we got on the river parkway and basically ran the last 3+ miles of the Ogden Marathon and ended back at my office. Had a good combo of up, down and flat.
