I ran the New York Marathon.  I'm currently in the middle of a capitol murder trial in Logan.  It hasn't allowed me to run  or sleep much the past couple of weeks.  Friday night I drove home from Logan. Took the kids treak or treating and then caught a midnight flight to New York.  Landed at 6:30 a.m. New York time, 4:30 Utah time.  I tried to sleep on the plane but wasn't too successful.  I arrived at the hotel around 8 and got three hours of sleep.  Sean, Todd and Spence had flown in on Wednesday.  Spent Saturday walking all over Manhatten.  Went to the expo and saw the sights.  Got back to the hotel fairly late.  Fell asleep sometime after midnight.  Woke up at 3:30 a.m. Had to catch a taxi to the subway and then had a 45 minute subway ride to Manhattan where we caught a bus out to Staten Island.  Arrived on Staten Island a little after 6:30.  The marathon didn't start until 9:40.  It was a cold, windy morning.  I tried to stay warm to no avail.  In addition to the lack of sleep and running I still haven't fully recovered from St. George.  All of the above spelled disaster.  I figured I was in for some hard times.  I decided to just run at a comfortable pace for as long as I could.  The marathon was great,  tons of spectators along the course.  I'd like to run this again with proper training and rest and see how I could do.  My miles are as follows;

1.  8:33

2.  7:22

3.  7:31

4.  7:47

5.  7:39

6.  8:07

7.  7:54

8.  10:29--I'mnot sure what happened here.  I don't remember anything difficult at this point.

9.  8:00

10. 8:25

11. 8:45

12. 8:29

13. 8:50

14. 8:27

15. 7:50

16. Not sure what my time was here.  At this point we went on a bridge and there was a top level above us.  My garmin couldn't read the satellite and shows a mile and .59 and says I ran it in 11:57.  From here on out my garmine was about a half mile ahead of the course.

17. 8:37

18. 8:34

19. 10:06

20. 11:32--I'm really starting to feel fatigue at this point.

21. 9:53

22. 11:09

23. 15:11--At this point my legs were jell-o.  I pretty much walked from here on out.  We were in Central Park and I just took in the experience of the park and all the people.

24. 14:41

25. 14:04

26. 12:33

Even though the time wasn't what I would normally be happy with, I wasn't at all concerned with it.  I had a great time and hope to get back there under better circumstances in the next couple of years.

Ran with Todd, Mike, Sean and Ben.  We started at the Albertson's in S. Ogden and ran to the football stadium at Weber State and then back.  Took it nice and easy.  My calves cramped whenever I was running up hill.  Other than that my legs were a little sore, but not too bad.

Todd and I left my house and ran up  Jefferson to Burch Creek and then up Chambers to St. Josephs.  Crossed Washington and ran down through S. Ogden past the armory and into the Terrace.  Went all the way across the top of theTerrace and down 500 W. to 4800 S.  Down to Hilltop where we crossed Washington and back to my house.  After the first two miles of uphill I felt really good and we stayed around an 8 minute pace.

Ran with Ben and Sean.  We left Albertson's on Harrison and ran along Old Post to the Dee Events Center. Went up Skyline and got on the trail above the football stadium.  Climbed up to the Bonneville Shoreline trail and made our way to Rainbow Gardens.  Got on the Ogden River trail and followed it down to Peak Performance.

Ran with Ben, Quentin and Sean.  We left Albertsons in South Ogden and ran to Weber State.  Got on the trail above the stadium and started climbing.  My right calf cramped up and I had to walk most of the way up.  Finally topped out and had spectacular views of Ogden as we ran along the trail.  Made our way over to Rainbow Garden and then got on the Ogden River path and ran down to Peak Performance.  Once we hit the river trail we decided to temp it.  I ran miles 9 and 10 in 7:33 and 7:34. I felt pretty strong but ran out of gas towards the end.  Overall, a great run.
